Seven things for couples to do in Kingman, AZ

Kingman may be a small town, but it has a variety of opportunities for couples to spend quality time together. Of course, there is a movie theater in town, a couple can go bowling, dine out at a fancy steakhouse, or get a cool treat on a hot summer night. But if you’re looking for something a little different and special, we have a few suggestions below!

  1. A top recommendation is an evening stroll in Historic Downtown Kingman. Several dining options, breweries, and wine bars await couples seeking a romantic night out. Reserve a dinner with a local flare, take a stroll along Beale Street in the ambiance of neon signs, art deco facades, and mid-century modern architecture. Step in and up to the bar for a fine wine or craft brew. Depending on the night, you may find live entertainment.
  2. Mattina’s Ristorante Italiano at 318 E Oak St (reservations highly recommended). Mattina’s is like a jewel setting, carved into a charming historic century old home, awaiting romantic couples. The executive chef prepares award-winning Italian cuisines, seafood, and the finest steak dishes. Make it a special evening at Mattina’s and it will be a night your loved one won’t forget!
  3. Enjoy a glass of wine with your date at one of Kingman’s wine bars.
    • Head in or sit street side at the Cellar Door Wine Bar (414 Beale St). Cellar Door has a full cellar room with over 120 wines, they also serve nearly 50 beers to satisfy most pallets. You and your sweetie can catch live acoustic music Wednesday through Saturday night, or dive in to open mic on Tuesdays if you want to make an impression on a first date!
    • Enjoy the outdoor patio at SummeRay’s Wine Bar (132 E Oak St. ) Accompany your wine with charcuterie or pair it with a specialty plate. The wine bar is an outdoor experience adjacent to the Doll House Beauty Bar, so operations will fluctuate with the time of year and weather.
    • Red Cellar Bistro (3015 Hualapai Mountain Rd) offers a large selection of wine, beer, spirts, and cocktails and a well cultivated pairing menu. Couples can find a cozy corner inside or a shady table outside to enjoy delectable treats and a little romantic time together.
  4. Make it a 50s style shake date at Mr. D’z Route 66 Diner (105 E Andy Devine Ave, aka Route 66). Mr. D’z is a popular retro diner with a cutesy James Dean & Marylyn Monroe vibe that will take you and your honey through a time warp! When you hit the bottom of that frosty shake, make your way across the road for commemorative picture under the Route 66 Drive-Thru Shield!
  5. Book a reservation with Desert Diamond Distillery’s Lost Rail Car #30 near the airport at 4875 Olympic Way (reservations are required). The Historic Pullman Train Car #30 was operated by the railroad from 1917 to 1987. The Distillery purchased the train car and meticulously renovated the inside to make for an exquisitely vintage dining experience. Can’t make the reservation? It’s a fun couple’s experience to just order up a flight of spirits at the vintage tasting bar and tour through the Distillery.
  6. If an anniversary is on the horizon and you really want to get away without the hassle of getting away, consider a staycation at a local vacation home. Kingman is a southwest Route 66 destination, for a small town it has a large selection of Airbnb and VRBO rental options. Check into downtown abode close to the breweries and restaurants, look into a cozy stay in the cool mountains, find something with more amenities like a hot tub or swimming pool.
  7. Plan a hike on Monolith Garden Trail, with two trailheads located near downtown Kingman. Especially beautiful in the spring when desert flowers are blooming, this trail is studded with monoliths and views of a rocky buttes and desert mesas. Take plenty of water and pack in a lunch for an unforgettable desert adventure for two.
